Heya, so I just got into OBS, and had one helluva adventure trying to make everything work right.
First I just want to be clear, I am super appreciative that OBS is free to me, and I have ultimate respect to those who put work into it. None of this is a complaint, but my feet are only just freshly wet, and I am humbly asking for help, and yes I will admit I'm hella frustrated.
So I really do not like to wear noise cancelling head phones. They hurt my ears, I just don't like them. So what the onboard sound drivers on my Mobo allow me to do, is to separate the front panel headphone jacks (mic and 'headphones') into their own virtual device. This way, all of my sound comes from my speakers, but I can tell certain programs like Skype and Discord to output to my headphones instead; the mic is self explanatory, it works as normal.
But with the current version of stable OBS (Running Win7), I can't seem to find a good way to get my Discord to be heard over the stream. The furthest I got was to get Virtual Audio Cable and use its repeaters to try to pile all sorts of audio onto one VAC that OBS would listen to as its one source. But all the repeaters were driving me nuts and were super inconvenient, especially as none of the repeaters save their states- I'd have to re-do it every time I wanted to stream.
So after that, I tried the Multi Platform version after reading that it had way more 'slots' for audio inputs. That worked like a charm! The only problem was now that suddenly I'd need (to my understanding) to go as far as using desktop keystroke macros to mimic dissolve transitions between scenes. And I just don't feel happy with that at all, especially being that I am new at this system.
So now I feel like I either have to give up dissolve transitions, or not have Discord being heard.
What options does the community feel that I have? I am dying for your feedback! I really appreciate you taking the time to read and respond!!
