Hello,
I've been using OBS for a while now to record Minecraft, tweaked around with settings a bit and got the best quality recordings I've ever gotten. However, recently I'm recording more and I've noticed that my recordings are slightly laggy. Just wondering if there would be any way to eke a higher quality recording out of my computer.
Here's all my settings: https://gist.github.com/hjongh/db3fc4656e317c3d8d98
Here's a video that I recorded with OBS for reference: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OoN_JIQ_vVc
I understand that my computer may simply not be able to produce a higher quality recording but if I could get some suggestions on possible ways I might be able to improve recording quality that would be great!
Some other details:
These current settings are what I've found to be the best balance between quality and in-game lag - any more ambitious with my settings and the in-game lag becomes unbearable, and the recording is worse as a result.
I've tried upping the bitrate - anything over 2000 and my game starts to lag really badly.
Recording at fps over 30 has a dramatic effect on my in-game fps. 30 also gives me in-game lag but it's bearable. It's also really variable - sometimes recording won't make my game lag very much but other times it'll make the game unplayable.
I've also tried lowering crf slightly but that hasn't seemed to make much of a difference.
I've seen other recordings that are 30 fps but are a lot smoother than mine - I think this may have to do with bitrate but 1600-2000 seems to be my max. I'm also not sure whether my max bitrate has to do with how good my internet connection is..?
Thank you!
