Question / Help Help! OBS-studio v22.0.2 x86 not working with Nvidia GeForce 8400M GS

Hi,
I have an this error message when I run OBS studio:

My laptop has dual video chipsets : a low performance/power saving Mobile Intel 965GM (OBS works fine with it !) and the 8400M GS I'm having the problem. Tried several 3D settings in the NVidia control panel (performance, balanced, quality) unsuccessfully.
Graphic drivers are up to date.
I've tried with OBS Classic and I have no issues when the 8400M GS is active.

That laptop is way too underpowered to do any kind of live encoding.

The 8400M GS is too old for OBS studio. It is missing hardware support for some critical directx operation.

For my needs, OBS-studio works just fine for recording using the 'underpowered' Intel 965GM graphics.

What are you trying to record at? I used to use a computer with similar specs and I was able to record 720p30 with a decent amount of lag and 480p30 with little to no lag. You should at least be able to get 480p30.

The source is a 720p usb webcam. I'm able to encode without dropped frames up to 22 fps in 720p and 30 fps in 480p (MPEG4-AVC, AAC audio). Matches your results.
