Hi everybody. First, I wish you all a great 2022!.
Lurking and checking counteless tutorials, forums and videos, but still confuse about best setup for streaming pc games in Twitch, would love some insight, to help this old fella to save some headache if possible, thanks in advance:
First, hardware:
Windows 10 64 bits
Ryzen 5 3600x stock clocks (6 C, 12 T)
Rx 580 8 gb
SSD
16 gb ram DDR4 dual channels.
Native resolution monitors (2): 1920 x 1080, 60 hz.
Bandwith: 20 mbps upload (I understand that I can then have Target Bitrate to 6000 with no issues because this number)
Kind of games to stream: The Witcher 3, Skyrim (modded).
Just started streaming in Twitch, so not affiliated (I mention this because I have the impression they allow you to stream in different resolutions once they "promoted" you, not sure though)
So, here my questions to get the best balance between quality and perfomance:
1. Video settings in OBS:
- Base (Canvas) Resolution: Native 1920x1080?
- Output (Scaled): 1920 x 1080 or 1280 x 720?
If Downscaled to 1280 x 720, then change from Bilinear filter to Lanczos?
2. Output streaming:
- x264 (CPU) or H264 (AMD GPU)?, I have just those two options. I want to be sure I'm not overloading my GPU, which is kind of old, when maybe the CPU can handle better the encoding.
- Rescale Output on or off? (1280 x 720), this one seems the resolution that no matter what, will be accepted by Twitch. Can be wrong though.
3. Windows 10 64 bits:
- Game Mode off or on?
As I said, I would like to give my few viewers the best output is possible, in quality, but I'm lost with so many options and also how fast the settings get updated with so many factors in play.
Thanks a lot in advance.
