Hello,

Not sure if this works and I cant seem to type in the right search words so here it goes..

I have my ps3 hooked up to my computer monitor via hdmi port. When I start obs I cant find a way to capture the hdmi port. I set it to capture monitor but it will only show my desktop wallpaper even when I have my monitor on HDMI source and playing the ps3.

Is there a way to have this work?

Thank in advance, sorry Im new at this.

Your monitor is an input device. You send stuff to it, it doesn't send anything back. Your computer almost always only has HDMI output. Some motherboards have an HDMI input. If you have something that says HDMI-in, you can get this working.

OBS is on your computer, it cannot see your PS3 on your monitor, it can only see what the computer is outputting UNLESS you get a capture device such as an HDMI-in port to record the PS3 signal in the computer.

unless you strip the HDCP signal using a splitter, some do and some don't. You cant record HDMI from a PS3. Only component and composite. El Gato Game Capture HD comes with special PS3 cables to help with this. I recommend it as a capture card. It works with PS4 as well if you disable the HDCP in the settings in the ps4. Any questions about PS3 streaming just ask.
