Having a problem with AV1 encoding and my bitrate dropping when streaming on Youtube.

Recently, I wanted to try AV1 encoding since I got a 4070ti, but I have encountered a problem. When just using AV1 encoding, my bitrate nose dives from 10k to 160 bitrate and stays at that rate after about 20 to 30 minutes. I have tried the other encoders and even streamed on Twitch with no problem, and so far I have no clue what is causing this to happen. I don't know if AV1 uses different servers on Youtube or something, but after a while, my bitrate just crashes and I buffer. I would really love some help on this since it is driving me crazy. Here is the log I recently did, where the bitrate dropped again to 160. https://obsproject.com/logs/Fmc7B6uYGw1RqEzK

According to the information on the log file you don't have enough bandwidth
00:41:27.306: Output 'adv_stream': Number of dropped frames due to insufficient bandwidth/connection stalls: 14699 (49.2%)

Normally this happen when you encounter network issues, specially from your ISP regarding the rtmp/rtmps protocol.

So 22 Mbps upload is not enough for AV1? What would be the process from here to try and fix this?

Not just the speed. The issue most probably it's on the protocol itself and you have to contct your ISP regarding the issue.

So I called Spectrum, tried to explain, and was told there was nothing wrong on their end since I was able to connect and stream for like 20 minutes before the connection was throttled and it would be between Youtube and me. Basically, since I was initially able to connect and stream fine, there are no problems on their end, but it might have to be with the RTMPS and me, and they have no solution for me about this.

I been having the same problem, I had been using AV1 encoding with a 4070, sending 1440p 60 fps streams to You Tube @ 16000 bitrate (probably overkill) and they were working perfectly for the last few months.. and now all the sudden I having internet throttling it seems and I lose bandwidth and drop frames like crazy.. I been trying everything to fix and Im stumped to what it is unless YouTube did something to mess it up.. So at least you are not alone..

Most often, network frame drops occur for 2 reasons. Unstable or low streaming speed or distance to the media content delivery server.

Use these 2 commands to check ping and packet loss to youtube server.
Open a command prompt and enter them one by one:
tracert a.rtmp.youtube.com
pathping a.rtmp.youtube.com

If there are problems, then you contact your Internet provider.

In 9/10 cases the problem is solved on the side of the Internet provider or its replacement. Restreaming services also sometimes help, due to which the distance to the final server is reduced. Everything else is the user's equipment or incorrect settings.

Otherwise, you will have to reduce the bitrate until the frame drops disappear.

Yes it seems my ISP has changed the way the feed is being routed.. crappy TMobile home internet box is not vialble for streaming.. bummer because its my only choice for internet in Hawaii.. heres what the commands gave me back and it looks like the signal gets lost.. Thanks for your help I give up on You Tube..

I appreciate the help. I will post the two things you said to put into cmd. It would be helpful if you could let me know what they mean since I am new to this stuff. Because when I called and tried talking to them they said it had nothing to do on their end.

I'd recommend streaming with H264 and Dynamic Bitrate enabled. This will help with dropped frames.

are you using spectrums router? they give out this SAX1V1K that is pretty bad and you can get packet loss with it, try replacing it with your own. also what modem do you have

I do use the equipment they give me. I never changed it out for anything, but would you recommend something better than those?

Im bringing my 2 cents here because Im having kind of the same issue. I double stream youtube/Twitch with OBS. Today I streamed twice: during the day, zero issue. Late night, Youtube bitrate started to drop 5 minutes after beginning of streaming while no issue with Twitch upload. This happened several time, with AV1 or H265 or H264.
Interestingly, when that happens a google speedtest will show a bad upload speed whereas another speedtest (like speedtest.net) will be normal. As if all of a sudden my upload to google servers was shit.
Still havent found how to fix that.
