Question / Help Hauppauge USB Live 2 - Not Working

Hello all. I just switched to Windows 10 a few weeks ago. Since then, I've been using OBS with Hauppauge's USB-Live 2 with no issues. Every time I plug the device in, OBS recognizes it just fine, and I've been streaming reliably up until today.

This morning I streamed/recorded video fine, but this evening when I went to stream all of a sudden the USB-Live 2 device was not working. By "not working" I mean that it would show up as a device in OBS, but when activated would display no video or audio. Nothing had changed in my system between earlier today and when I just recently tried it.

I've pasted my recent log file.

Any ideas?

As a quick follow-up I have tested the device in Hauppauge Capture, and it works there (video and audio displaying), so it seems like an OBS issue?

::sigh::

I removed the sources for video capture and added a new one and it mysteriously started working again. That's good, and I suppose my issue is fixed...but any idea why this happens?

Okay, so now every time I start OBS, I can't get my video capture devices to work unless I first remove them from sources and re-add them.

Any advice/ideas?

Sounds like you have multiple sources that are trying to use your capture device independently.

After you include your capture device source for the first time, if you want to include it again (such as for other scenes) you need to add source, and then select the existing capture device you've set up (click the bottom radio button, then select your capture device). Otherwise, you run into the issue of the capture device already sending its feed to one source, and not being able to establish a new connection to the other.

Another issue you may be running into is if you're switching scene collections. If you have the same capture device included in two scenes that you're switching between, then you might run into an issue of OBS not fully disconnecting from the device before trying to reestablish the feed for the new scene collection.

Also as a side note, instead of removing/re-adding scenes you can just go to the properties of your device (double-click the scene, or right click -> properties), then click on Deactivate and then Activate. That should reestablish the feed if possible.
