Question / Help Hauppauge Colossus

Hey
I've been streaming for a few months now, but I've had to use the workaround of capturing my whole desktop with the viewing software that came with the cap card open.

When I try to use window capture, I get the output in the picture above.

When I try to directly pull the video from the capture card, I get the output above.

These are my settings for Window Capture and Video Capture Device respectively.

Am I doing something wrong, or does OBS still not decode h264?
Looking at the below link, the last time this was mentioned was about a year and a half ago.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the fast response, but it doesn't look like that one works either unfortunately on either direct video device capture or window capture.

The 'Video Capture Device', when selected to display, just shows a black screen with no sound.
Is it possible the WinTV8 (the video display software I'm using on my PC) has something to restrict the capture of its video by programs like OBS?

Did you close out of WinTV8 before starting up OBS? Only one program can use a video capture device at a time, and if it's being "held" by the other software, OBS won't be able to grab it. Also need to set up the source properties in OBS to match your input source possibly (in the properties hit 'configure' to open the driver's config tool).

As far as WinTV8 goes, try using a monitor capture. Depending on how it draws to the screen, it may not work the same as a standard window or game process (AmaRec does the same kind of thing).

Yeah, I have tried with Wintv8 open and closed, both before and after opening Obs. Clicking configure doesn't bring up anything, but I remember getting the latest drivers a while ago to make the capture card work with Wintv correctly.

I have been using monitor capture in the past, but the main reason it's an issue is because I only have one screen, and there is latency between what's happening on my WiiU monitor and my PC monitor, that makes the game unplayable if I were to just play using my PC monitor with the video playing through that.
