Hello all,

I would like to use OBS to record some output from my SNES and N64. Could someone recommend a good capture device? I have read the stickied post that talks about devices that don;t work very well and came up with this device on amazon as a potential solution;

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000VM60I8/

I would love to hear some suggestions, my budget is $90.

Thanks for the feedback!

I also had a question about latency. Should I be splitting the output from the console to a TV in addition to the PC, or will the latency be good enough to go directly to the PC and play off the monitor? I figure it depends on a lot of factors. But in general, do you have any opinions on the matter?

Thank you for your help.

The latency is really low, but not low enough to really be playable off the PC monitor (someone else that owns one of these devices can verify this), the lag is about 4 or 5 frames I recall (could be lower, not sure), which is about 70 to 80 ms input lag at best. So your best bet is to buy RCA splitters and then split the signal to your capture card and your TV, and then play on your TV to not experience any input lag at all.
