Question / Help Hardware Question - Dual PC Streaming

I would like to start purchasing hardware for a future dual PC streaming setup. Today, I'd like to focus on audio hardware. I know a mixer is required to move audio from the gaming PC to the streaming PC, but I don't know what type of mixer to purchase.

Majority of guides out there suggest using Behringer mixers, would this mixer be able to do the same job? http://www.guitarcenter.com/Mackie/Mix12FX-12-Channel-Compact-Mixer-with-Effects.gc

I read DodgePong's guide regarding splitting game audio, VOIP, music into separate channels and compared the Behringer hardware to Mackie, the Mackie didn't have certain ports that DodgePong used. This is why I'm wondering if the Mackie would work properly.

How many channels are recommended to somewhat future-proof my setup, in case I want to incorporate more audio stuff later on?

I currently have an audio interface, "Scarlett Solo." With a new mixer, will my Scarlett Solo become useless?

I'd appreciate all the help/suggestions I can get. Thank you so much!

You can actually just set the gaming PC to send audio over the HDMI interface. A mixer isn't generally needed, even if it's a good idea.

That mixing desk does not have a built-in USB interface, so you'll need to take the MAIN OUT (usually either dual mono or dual balanced mono) and plug it into either a Line In on your mobo/sound card, or the Scarlett. START OUT AT MINIMUM VOLUME. Some will send an amped signal, which can damage hardware.

Number of channels is personal preference. I'm using an 8-channel, and currently only use one mic, though have three more mic inputs if I have a party night and want to mic people individually, plus four more (mono, or 2 stereo) inputs for adding things like dedicated music or an SFX board.

It really depends on exactly what you want to do with your setup, but that Mackie looks like a solid standalone mixer, if your desired end-config actually needs one.

Windows can output to two separate devices at once if you have stereo mix. just set up your playback device as your headphones and enable your stereo mix in your recording devices and set up it this way. good luck

No cables or mixers needed. capture card has audio from stereo mix trought HDMI and you have your audio in your headphones
