Question / Help Hardware Encoding on Advanced Output

I'm using OBS for capturing gameplay, game audio and voice audio for YouTube videos.

I want to capture the audio in separate tracks (game & voice) to help in downstream editing.

I can do this with Output Mode set to "Advanced". If I set Output Mode to "Simple" I get only Track 1.

The major problem is that with Output Mode: "Advanced" I have no option for Hardware Encoding like I do under Output Mode: "Simple". Without Hardware Encoding my video is either High Definition at a Slideshow Framerate or Finger Paint Quality at 60fps.

Q. Is there any way to access Hardware Encoding under Output Mode: "Advanced"?
or
Q. Is there any way to enable multi-track audio under Output Mode: "Simple"?

Thanks in advance,

Mitch

there is an software that allows you to "emulate" diferent channels...multi-track...
but i do not need that with my "old" headphones... didn't find any phones with this ability...
Turtle Beach PX11, allows to chat (talk and listen) via USB and listen game via Line out...
and because it's "hardware related" ... it appears in windows as diferent sound components ;)

Hi Osiris,

The options I have under Advanced are:
  • H264/AVC Encoder (AMD Advanced Media Framework)
  • H265/HEVC Encoder (AMD Advanced Media Framework)
  • x264
If any of those are hardware encoding I'll cry tears of hopelessness.

Any idea why they are so much worse (as described in the OP) than the hardware encoder under Basic options?
Is there any way to access *that* hardware encoder from the Advanced options?

I would never have realised they were the same. In Simple mode I only have one hardware encoder available. And the difference in performance is mind-blowing. I guess I'll stick with Simple and work around the lack of multi-track audio.

Thanks for your help.

There is no difference in performance, they are the exact same encoders. Hardware (AMD)=H264/AVC Encoder (AMD Advanced Media Framework). There can be only a difference in settings.

OMG Settings... Full uninstall & settings purge. Reinstall.

Seems to be working. Not a clue what I might have messed up.

So sorry for wasting your time. I'll go back under my rock. *hides in shame* *starts fresh account*

The fresh install has defaulted to "Recording" preset, which has a much higher target bitrate than the others and makes me wonder if that might have had something to do with it. Either way this dopey n00b has been fixed.
