Bug Report Hardware Acceleration still not working with OBS Studio

Is there any word on this being fixed? It is frustrating that after all this time it still has not been fixed, let alone explained in detail as to why it does not work. May I ask that browser most streamers are using? I would have thought Chrome was up on the list, but maybe I am just too old.

I figured something as small as this bug could be responded to, compared to my other posts which have received 0 responses...

We don't know why exactly it doesn't work, just that disabling hardware acceleration makes it capturable.

Why do you need Hardware acceleration in your Web Browser?
I have found that many things run better with it turned on. But I suppose your question is like asking someone "Why do you want to enable anti-aliasing in your game?" Sure, you can technically live without it, but this is why I made a post. I was hoping that something more simple would get a response as compared to my other post.

I was afraid of this. Such is my life. Both "bugs" I have reported are either A. Not solved or B. No intentions of fixing :(

AFAIK there isn't clear info yet as to whether it's an OBS problem to fix.

Questions like "Why do you need hardware acceleration" get asked because people try to do silly things like window capture TwitchAlerts widgets when they should be adding them as browser sources. Maybe there's a better way to do what you're trying to do, but we don't have a way to know unless we ask, since that info wasn't provided already.

Who said anything about no intention of fixing? That was just what we currently know.
If you looked at my other post about dropped frames, this is what I referred to as "no plans to fix". I apologize I did not make this clear because I assumed when I said "both bugs" you could easily see my other post to see what I am talking about.

I suppose it is understandable to assume I am another "random newbie" using OBS, so again it was my mistake to assume you all know I have been using OBS for a long time now.

Majorly Sexy Suggestion
and aero was disabled when capturing, so this thing is depend on system, sure.
I am unsure what point you were trying to make here? It is obvious that Chrome changed something, but I figured that thousands of people are using OBS, and wish they could use their browser to its fullest potential. As such, I figured that this problem is much easier to solve than OBS studio's frames being dropped due to it being extremely more sensitive than OBS classic.

I really just wish Jim would confirm what he "suggested" he might do in that other post. It would at least give me some peace of mind out of these 2 issues I have posted about.

@darthclide , 25000$ to the project and maybe somebody could look at it if you can't by yourself (it's easy). Wanna help? Join! The green donation button top right corner of the site (it's easier).

'Display Capture' source works almost everywhere (it's easier).

Worth noting the hardware accel is not and OBS issue. Disabling it also has to be done for Xsplit,Gameshow,Infiniscene, and really any other that use window capture in the same way.
Has to do with a chrome update and it impacts all of the streaming software.

Also frame drops are pretty much always network based/connection based. So they are not going to fix your issue by sending a patch. It has to be fixed on your end.

Lol, the good old "do it yourself or put some money into the lottery, I mean OBS project, and hope the problem is fixed" message. Thanks! It is what I have come to expect in this forum anyway.

I never said once that OBS started the problem. I simply thought they could be the first to end the problem that Chrome started.

And the good old "get better internet" message. How about you look at my posts to see that I dropped almost 0 frames in classic for many months, but as soon as I switched to Studio I get hundreds to thousands. Jim himself said that there is a way to fix this, which involves copy-pasting the code from classic. But considering I am not a partnered stream, let alone a big streamer, let alone a top donator to OBS, this problem will just be swept under the rug, with the response you gave.

It's okay though. I made the posts expecting nothing, but I at least tried. :) Have a good day all!

What makes you think it's possible for OBS to fix the problem with Chrome?

I'm not saying that it's not possible, but you seem very confident that it's a) possible and b) easy. Why?

Jim never said he could really fix it, he said he could make it behave like Classic where it wouldn't always report a dropped frame but instead would delay the stream. In the end the problem is still with your connection, just not so clearly visible in OBS Classic, that is something Jim can never fix.

Anyway, it's a bit insulting that you think things are swept under the rug, we are all volunteers here and the majority don't even code, let alone code on OBS. So not everything can be dealt with as fast as a company could, there is just 1 person who codes the majority of OBS and that's Jim.

If you want to report bugs/feature requests, better use https://obsproject.com/mantis/

Hi there, to resurrect this old thread. I need HA in Chrome because I stream Tinkercad and without HA it is nearly unusable. If anyone thinks there is another solution I'm open to it.

Thanks a bunch.
