[GUIDE] Streaming a Google+ Hangout to YouTube Live

Hi,

I love OBS. I'm a new user who switched from Wirecast since OBS is so much less CPU intensive and does everything I need. I have learned so much from this forum and I wanted to share a guide on my setup.

I host tech shows on Google+ and bring guests on via a Google+ Hangout video call and then use OBS to stream the finished show to YouTube Live in 720p.

Here is the guide: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PlAlsgobQdc

and the show that was running when I recorded it: https://plus.google.com/u/0/10289867260 ... Kknpo1TQfB

I'll be happy to answer any questions and if you have any suggestions on how I can improve the setup I'm all ears!

Thanks for creating such an awesome program!

Hello Dan,
I have participated in a few of your Hangouts. (E Wallace)

Have you ever thought of using OBS Live on Google+ Hangouts?
I use OBS and a secondary screen sharing program that allows people in my hangouts see all the effects. I have a green screen to use Chroma Key giving me cool background effects, then I Capture and area from the Google hangout itself and display it in a window to the right on top of a layered PNG image with transparencies, some Scrolling text, and much more.

its all for fun really but I would love to see you do it while in one of your hangouts :)

I have done that with Wirecast but I switched to YouTube Live because the video quality is so much better. That may change as HoAs improve, which they have been doing.
