Question / Help GTA V PC specific issue (Black Screen)

Hi there.

Long time OBS user, first issue I've had with it. Can stream many different games, in fact every one I've ever attempted, except for GTA V.

Whenever I preview, the screen is just black. I'm on a desktop as stated with an i7, 16gb RAM and a 780 Ti (I run it on Ultra). I've tried lower settings, etc. Same issue. It's not a graphical issue and I can stream other games with these drivers.

I did make progress, if you can call you that, when I opened the game while already streaming. The loading screens and menu appear for a little while then everything goes black. Kind of at a loss, as fiddling with OBS and GTA settings didn't help. (I run GTA through Steam but I can stream other Steam games too.)

Anyone got any knowledge on this? I feel like it's just me that's having this issue.

^ OBS log.

Thank you in advance for any insightful contributions.

I'm having the same issue and can't figure it out either. The only way I can get it to pop up is if i change screen type to windowed, and set obs to monitor display.

Have you tried the anti-cheat compatibility hooking with game capture? Or even the alpha blending?

If neither work, then a decent solution is to run in borderless windowed mode and either grab the game window with window capture OR if you're on windows 8.1, simply grab the monitor.

I turned anti-cheat compatibility and alpha blending on, and alternated between them. It worked initially (with both enabled) and since then no longer works.

This inconsistency is confusing me.

It might be rockstar's neverending "anti-mod" quest. If it worked with both enabled and then failed to work afterward, I would suggest deleting and re-creating the game capture and keeping both ticked. Also, if you wish to alt-tab a lot, borderless windowed may be a godsend. If borderless windowed does not work, try windowed mode. For all I know Rockstar did some kind of crap in borderless windowed where it screwed with the window type in such a way that OBS doesn't work with it very well.

I haven't tried streaming GTA and game cap is worthless without OBS multiplat for me as I use SLI, so I can't help too much with this.
