Question / Help Good settings for my PC?

Hello! I am kind of new to OBS, and I'm wondering if people can help me out with my recording settings. I'm not really sure what I need to put, so I will just put some information I think is helpful. Please tell me if I need to add more information.

(Also I'm trying to get the best stuff possible, all I really need is a estimate of the maximum I can get too, and I will go down from there if that doesn't work.)

Processors: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6700 CPU @ 3.40GHz, 3408 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s)
I can probably run about 8000 bitrate.

So I guess what I really am hoping for are settings for OBS.

Sorry not great with computer information, I probably aren't very clear. Thanks for all the help in advance!

There are no "best settings." Please understand that every setup, for every use case, will be very different. Any guides or videos that claim otherwise are misinforming. Your best option is to start with a base and adjust as necessary. Test, test, and test again. We are happy to offer suggestions for any issues you may be having, but we will not give you a list of settings.

Hello, Wildfire, I'm not a pro at this but I'll try to help you as much as possible.

You also need a decent upload rate from your ISP (Internet Service Provider) to be able to stream, especially at that rate. but if I'm not wrong, as an non affiliated streamer or so (just new) can't reach above 3800/5000 Bitrate.

So for your wanted bitrate you'd need to be around 15mbps (cabled) upload to prevent any distortions while streaming.

So i recommend turning it down as it's no use at this moment for you to have it at 8000, have it at 3500-5000 somewhere.
And if I'm not wrong that CPU supports NVENC encoding so have that checked.
Audio bitrate will be at 192 (as standard i believe).
If you have a new set of graphic cards like the 10's series or late 900 ti's you should be able to stream with 1920x1080 as base and output (scaled) resolution: 1280x720@60fps.

If anyone disagree's with me, please correct me as you see fit, but I believe this should be fine.

Fenrir: Okay thanks. Sorry for posting then, had OBS for a while but just kind of started it.

Neca: Okay thanks!

Fenrir: (Just adding this after since I read it after) you're right, some guy told me 40000 was a good bitrate to use... Another told me 50000 too.

He is trying to record.

Guide might be a little bit older but the fundamentals are still the same

I would suggest following the NVENC part in the guide.

For high-quality, no fuss recordings, use the recording quality presets under Settings > Output when in Simple output mode. In the recording section, change the Recording Quality to Indistinguishable Quality, and then select your encoder.
