Question / Help Good settings for 4K gameplay recording?

So I am really new with OBS but I watched a bunch of videos and searched around for settings and made some decent combination for my own needs. I added a GTX 1080ti to my Alienware 15R3 Laptop (7700HQ, 16GB RAM, GTX1070) with the Alienware Graphics Amplifier. I use a 128GB SSD (C: Drive) for the OS, a 750GB Crucial MX300 (D: Drive) and a 3TB WD Red HDD (E: Drive). But here's the weird problem.

1. Nvidia Shadowplay works very well, but obviously causes much bigger file sizes.
2. Whenever I use OBS and save a video of a game to my D: the output file is really dark and laggy, slow, basically looks corrupted. I tested this with multiple games and made sure the other games were on a separate drive.
3. Whenever I use OBS to save a video of a game to my E: the output file is clear, with the exception of bitrate quality its 1:1 except the problem is its choppy (looks like low FPS, but likely due to the 5400 RPM HDD?)

OBS version 21.1.0 too btw. Is there something I am missing or doing wrong? Both of my SSD work extremely well for gaming or anything, but for some reason is problematic when recording a video of a game not even on the same SSD. Doesn't make much sense I know, but that's exactly why I am asking for help haha.
