Hi I am new to this forum and am not sure if this is the right place to ask this but I am planning on getting a new laptop soon and really want to be able to stream agar.io

Does anyone have any good recommendations for a good Laptop that would be able to stream agar.io with no lagg?

I would like to spend around $700-900 on the laptop.

Also, When I was at my friends house I tried streaming on his PC and when i looked at the encoder options there were 2, "software" and "hardware" when i looked on my PC it only had the software. What is the hardware that my friend had? Are there any laptops that have that??

Thanks a lot :D

Anything with a 2nd generation Intel i5 or newer i5 will do just fine with Agar.io... you can get a used i5 laptop on Craigslist for $200-$300 USD here in the States... As for the encoder Options, the only encoder options I see in OBS Classic are "x264", "Quick Sync", and "Nvidia NVENC", all of which are hardware... which OBS are you using, and which version?

OK thanks.

I was looking at OBS on my pc and there are also 2 options the x264 and then "AMD video coding engine" My current laptop only has the x264 one and its bad as heck.

Im not sure what the AMD thing even is. Is that hardware for encoding? Is that something I need to look for in a laptop?

Yes it is a hardware encoder. AMD Video Coding Engine is because of your graphics cards capabilities, same way as my nVidia NVENC is correspondent to my nVidia Graphics Card. It just offloads some or all of the rendering from the CPU (x264) to the GPU. Your mileage may vary how well this works for you, depending on the overall capabilities of your own personal computer. "Quick Sync" is Intel only, and not all Intel processors have it. Most people use x264 if they have decent a decent i5 processor or better. Again, your mileage may vary.

OK thanks.

Maybe a better question would be, What is a good laptop that would be capable of streaming anything (including agar.io). Some links would also be nice.

Thanks

What country or state are you in? Do you want to buy online or in a brick and mortar store? Do you have a preference of brand of laptop? brand of CPU? brand of graphics card?
