I prefer the intra frame codecs to the long GOP ones since editing and browsing around the timeline on high quality video is much faster. Even on an i9-7980XE with an NVME drive, it is a little slow to browse around higher bitrate x264, whereas codecs like prores look great and are very easy on editing software.
The issue is, I can't find any that work. Since 20.1.3 https://obsproject.com/forum/threads/prores-codec-was-fine-but-now-tearing-badly.83525/ prores broke, tears, and is unusable. DNXHD is a good one too but never works, if you try to record with it it will say instant error each time.
Are there any codecs that are close to lossless/great quality that also are very easy on editing software the way prores is, that are usable in the newest versions of OBS? If not, is there a way to make libx264 or h264_nvenc more palatable to editing software? Would setting keyint=1 minkeyint=1 in libx264 get me closer to this?
Thank you!
