Getting Nvidia K1100m Quadro to 1080p 60fps?

Hello guys,

I've been following what people are saying about Macs (that OBS doesn't have access to GPU meaning the CPU has to 'do its best' and run everything else).

I noted what people have said about certain Nvidia Graphics Cards (specifically with NVENC encoders) being able to take the strain away from the CPU and do more intense graphics magic with relative ease.

I did my first stream with it on Sunday. Generally this worked better but there are still stutters approximatley every 10 seconds happening throughout if you look here:

I will post the Log file after this post, and also add screen shots of the settings I've got.

Spec of machine:

• ThinkPad W540
• Intel i5 2.5ghz Dual Core,
• 8gb RAM,
• Nvidia Quadro K1100m
• Windows 10 64 bit.
• I've stripped all settings back to 'performance' i.e. this laptop is SOLELY for streaming - I don't use it for anything else.

CAMERAS
Logitech C920 (pointing closely at the decks) - USB
iPhone 8 Plus (shooting from behind me) - USB
iPhone 6 (shooting at my face) - USB
Scarlett 2i2 Sound Card (bringing music into laptop from my DJ equipment)

iTunes has to be open to recognise the 2 x iOS Cameras.

I am streaming 720p 30fps currently.

Ideally, I'd like to do 1080p 60fps if possible from this setup.

Any tips of what to try would be gratefully received.

OBS Studio creates a log file each time you run it which contains very useful diagnostic information. Without a log file, it's much harder for any support volunteers to figure out problems and your post may be ignored. To upload a log file, go to the Help menu > Log Files > Upload Last Log...

But guessing without a log I would bet you overload the Notebook, it is very old and was even back than entry level.

18:57:11.496: Output 'adv_stream': Number of dropped frames due to insufficient bandwidth/connection stalls: 20637 (10.0%)

So you have connection problems, maybe your Internet is to slow or your wifi instable, use a ethernet cable and try again.

Thanks for the reply. Its an Ethernet connection to an 8mb upload.

Can you confirm there is no other reason for the stuttering you can see, than upload speed being shaky? I am well under the limit at 3000kbps

Ah ok i guessed that based on

Atleast in the log there is nothing indicating that.
Could you test with https://r1ch.net/projects/twitchtest and post a screenshot of it here?

Hey, actually before I read this post I have a realllllllly strange issue. I was just running tests earlier today.

Speedtest.net says: Upload speed 7.8 to 8.0mb's

EVERY time I test with Twitch Directly or Restream, its peaking at 1350 to 1400kbs and saying there are 90% dropped frames, and growing (but only due to network, not GPU or Overloaded CPU etc). I moved it to 720p 60fps 3,000kb's bitrate and still exactly the same.

I've even tried a different router, still the same. I'm running a 50metre ethernet cable but historically this has always worked.

Any ideas why I'm throttling down on OBS to a Server but not on my general internet usage?

i'm plannin on streaming at 720p/60fps on 2000kbps using lenovo thinkpad w540.
i just need one confirmation from you if i can ever do it.

note: i have seperate gaming pc from which i will use a capture card to the laptop and so the laptop is strictly for streaming.

thank you , i just bought my lenovo thinkpad w540 with core i7 4800MQ 4 core 8 thread, and quadro k1100m and also it has quicksync h264 which i was unaware of.
and i ran a test stream of about 3hrs in 720p/60fps in quadro and i didnt had any frame drop. i even had no drops even with cpu pre testing.

sorry to bother again. just an update. i went through internet for solution and found a really werid one.
i just uninstalled realtek audio driver from driver updates and it enabled seperate mic inputs for built in and jack.
also now i am able to use usb to hdmi adapter audio itself.
