Question / Help Gens (Sega emulator)

Hello Folks.

I've been trying to get the Gens emulator to work on Online Broadcaster Software.
Other emulators seem to work fine (ZNES) for example through monitor capture but for some reason the Gens keeps using aero and when i change the size its not able to find the window anymore.

When Aero is disabled it won't show anything and when its enabled theres nothing i can do to resize the Gens window, it will just show lost of screens

Did i do something wrong or is this a problem with Gens itself?

Sorry if i do not make much sense, but im a total rookie with this kind of stuff!

Cheers in advance!

I'm not sure I understand...when Aero is enabled, it prevents you from resizing the window?

Generally, it's better to have Aero enabled when using Window capture, so that would be the preferable option. I'm just not sure what you mean. Can you post a screenshot?

When starting OBS up windows go transparent, so i suggest this shows that aero is on right?

I got a twitch border and want the screen that I capture in the right place.. so my border doesnt overlap any gameplay.
WIth the ZNES it worked perfectly but with the version of the SEGA (Gens) it is to small to fit in the available space.
How ever i can resize it, but when i go to the Gens emulator to play my game, Its to small for me to actual enjoy playing.

so as soon as I make the emulation screen larger the screen I capture on OBS would only show me 50% of the screen and the rest is cut off.

Also when I want to check my skype really quick for any messages it doesnt stay on the emulator but it will show my skype instead, whcih wasnt the issue with the ZNES

Hope it makes a bit more sense for you know if not my apologies!

Wait, do windows go from transparent to non-transparent? That means you have the Disable Aero check box checked and you want that check box un-checked.

I'm still not understanding what you mean. Can you take a screen shot of what Gens looks like when you try to capture it? Can you not just press the Edit Scene button to resize the capture source if it's not the right size in OBS?

The transparency is fine Aero is enabled, I am able to stream but the emulator itself is very small, Ideally would be 800x600 or something but i can only resize it manually by moving the mouse to the edge.

This is my Twitch border for my Retro channel. (downsized in photoshop 800x600 normally it is 1920x1080)
I want the Emulator in the big black sqaure and the small one is for my webcam.

When I start the emulator and resize everything it will look like this:

But it wont stay 'Locked' onto that specific window as soon as I go on skype and it overlays the emulator it will show me the skype chat instead.

Huh. Weird; if you're using a Window Capture with Aero enabled, it should lock to the window. If you were using a Monitor Capture it'd grab Skype. Are you sure that your capture is the right kind? Try deleting it and adding a new Window Capture specifically, just in case.

Also, if you want to be able to set a larger default window size, consider using Fusion (Kega II) instead of Gens. Supports a wider range of consoles and is quite a bit more configurable overall.

I found it weird myself,I re-checked it is window capture and not monitor capture.

When I click on the Gens in taskbar to 'pause' the game and go to skype it is fine, dont know why tho.

Seems its all working out now!
