Question / Help Garbled lower half of screen

Hello all!

I'm using OBS to record video, mainly gaming. I am seeing some issues with the lower quarter of the screen. You can see the issue in the text box on the lower left part of the video. This happens in Windows as well (web browsers, etc.) so it's not isolated to recording games. I don't have this issue when recording video with ShadowPlay.

Video clip created using OBS:

Video clip created using ShadowPlay:

Any suggestions? :)
Thanks!

13:20:18.274: Output 'adv_file_output': Number of lagged frames due to rendering lag/stalls: 702 (29.0%)

Pretty severe video card overload there.

Post a screenshot of gpu-z

And stop saving directly to mp4.

Yeah, I noticed that there was a fair bit of stalling there, and it shows in the choppy video. I followed this guide to set up OBS and it suggested CQP rate control. CBR seems to work better for me, though. It doesn't have any effect on the garbled text though. The guide I mentioned had .mp4 in one of the screenshots. What is the recommended format to save to?

Screenshot attached. Thanks!

Record to FLV or MKV. If you record to MP4 and the recording is interrupted, the file will be corrupted and unrecoverable. If you require MP4 files for some other purpose like editing, remux them afterwards by selecting File > Remux Recordings in the main OBS Studio window.

And try with CQP 15

Quality should be far better there.
Thank you for your help! The quality is indeed better. The original issue still remains, unfortunately. The garbled text at the bottom of the screen. I probably didn't explain too well how it shows up in video, so I have added another video to demonstrate. Note that the video is a capture of a game, but the same garbled effect is visible elsewhere, like in browsers. The issue is not present when recording video with ShadowPlay.

New video, issue shows up best at max quality:

Your video doesn't show the "garbling" as limited to the bottom half of the screen, and a large part of it may be due to youtube processing.

It does have the same distortion before it goes up on YouTube though. You weren't able to see the issue in the video at all? The distortion is limited to the bottom 15-20% of the screen.

Having this exact same problem too, I've tried just about everything but I suspect it's an OBS bug.
It only seems to happen when recording at 3440x1440 (21:9).

Here's some examples, pay attention to the fine text.

This is with the NV12 color format, using the RGB color format does help with the issue but obviously that's impractical for a number of reasons.
I could upload some examples to YouTube but it's not as obvious unless you're watching in fullscreen with a 3440x1440 monitor yourself.
