Question / Help Games run at 1% GPU Usage

When I have OBS Studio open (not streaming or recording) my games when in full screen are at 1fps and my gpu usage is at 5%... Unless I move my mouse around.. In which case my fps rises along with the gpu usage. When the mouse is stopped it drops again. What the hell?

I've done a fresh install of windows 10 Pro too... Specs below:

GPU: SLI EVGA GTX 980Ti Classifieds 1366Mhz
RAM: Corsair Vengance Pro 16GB (x2 8GB) 1866Mhz XMP
OBS installed on OS drive - 120GB SSD
OS: Win 10 Pro 64bit

Does this happen with all games, or just Planet Coaster? I've experienced similar behavior with DOSBox, which I chalked up to a quirk with how that particular program renders things.

It happens with nearly all my games.. Dark Souls 2 SOTFS, DiRT Rally, Planet Coaster, Need for Speed 2016.. I tried Fallout 4 earlier and that seemed to be OK.. but nothing else :(

- Does it happen with only a specific source type, like game capture? Or does just having OBS open at all, even with an empty scene collection, cause the problem?

- Is SLI enabled? Does the same thing happen with SLI disabled?

Hi Sapiens, thanks for getting back to me.

It happens when I just have OBS open.. no scenes there at all.

It also has the same effect when I have SLI disabled.

I figured it out! It was because I force V-sync to be off in the nvidia control panel... I have a Gsync Monitor so perhaps it has something to do with that. But hey ho! It works!
