Hello wondering if anybody could help me on this , my son has started to record gameplay using OBS for YouTube . he has only a basic PC , windows 10 , i5 CPU 8gb RAM with GTX 1050TI 4gb GPU ,
The game itself doesn't lag when playing and is on all high setting's , but when we watch the recordings back they seems to be a little lagging here and there , also when he does a wheel spin in a car in the recordings the wheel will turn really slow . he's only young so he likes to customize cars lol .

We also had recording lagging on trackmania no where near as much as GTA 5 though .

Is there something I'm doing wrong ? Or settings I need to change for our current basic PC ? Or is it simply not a good enough system? Thanks

I've googled how to get OBS log , so have a rough idea but wait your reply .
But in the mean time because I won't be able go on PC now till tomorrow , do you think the i5 CPU 8gb RAM + GTX 1050 Ti 4gb GPU , is not powerful enough to have games like GTA 5 and OBS recording at the same time with flawless 1080p recordings?

You're overloading your video card pretty badly.
15:37:31.379: ┃ ┣download_frame: min=0 ms, median=0.002 ms, max=182.208 ms, 99th percentile=83.587 ms

Post a screenshot of the first tab of gpu-z please.

I have no idea what any of that means lol .

When I go into nvidia its says that this card is excellent at running GTA 5 = can't be true ..

What's gpu-z?

Your playing GTA V on specifications that meet GTA V recommended requirements.

OS: Windows 8.1 64 Bit, Windows 8 64 Bit, Windows 7 64 Bit Service Pack 1
Processor: Intel Core i5 3470 @ 3.2GHZ (4 CPUs) / AMD X8 FX-8350 @ 4GHZ (8 CPUs)
Memory: 8GB
Video Card: NVIDIA GTX 660 2GB / AMD HD7870 2GB
Sound Card: 100% DirectX 10 compatible
HDD Space: 65GB
DVD Drive

However, that all gets tossed out the window when OBS Studio is running alongside GTA V. So you need even higher spec system to compensate.

You are running an i5 2320 that is below recommended requirements. Passmark wise, this is on the lower end of the CPU scale. I would replace with a better CPU and motherboard.

GTX 1050Ti should be ok to do 1080p at 30FPS. But realize, there are other games out there and the requirements go up. So when you play an even higher end game, the problem will just resurface again and you have to compensate by lowering game rendering settings. That only makes the recording/stream look like crap. Worse even if at a lower FPS causing frame drops and unsmooth output.

So I'd basically get the kid to start mowing lawns and helping out around the house more and upgrade the box... ;o)

Yea I knew it was a basic PC , has it was only £300 for everything . like you said it plays GTA 5 really well on its own all on full quality settings it just can't handle it both .
Would I not be able to put an i7 chip in my motherboard I've seen a few used ones on eBay .
Would an option not be a capture device ?
He won't be playing more high end games yet , he's only young I know he's too young to play GTA 5 but he's not allowed do missions .

Capping the FPS of your game and running at lower game image quality is what you're probably going to need to do on that system currently.

An i7 will be of limited use as it is not where you're hitting your limit, as you're hitting your limit in the pci-e 2.0 lanes and your video card.

So is my graphics card no where near good enough to run obs and a game at the same time ?
Or is it the motherboard what can't handle it is that what you mean by pci-e lanes ?
I've looked on YouTube on videos on how to change the bitrate and fps settings on obs itself but my obs doesn't seem to have that option .
