Question / Help gameplay audio echoing

why is it that when I record gameplay on my Mac (desktop audio is going into my earphones and I use my earphone mic as the mic for my voice) the gameplay audio comes out fine when I just watch the raw video through quick time but the moment I put it into any video editing software the gameplay audio echos like crazy?
