Put your preset on ultrafast and use the frame limiter in Minecraft to cap it at something close to your monitor's refresh rate (e.g. 60).

Hey I have seen this warning sign before and quickly changed my mind on whether or not to use ultrafast.

Error
WARNING! Changing the x264 preset can have server negative effects on your stream quality and CPU usage.

Should I be concerned? Or just proceed to use the setting?

May or may not be a stupid question. My apologies.

The warning is there to keep people from changing the option without knowing what it does or what to set it at. In this case we want to set it to ultrafast so that your CPU doesn't have to work as hard while recording.
