Question / Help Game is choppy and ping fluctuates [also get an error msg]

When I stream League of Legends, it gets kind of "choppy". My mouse clicks are delayed by .5 second sometimes. My ping will go up a little bit as well. And, from time to time, I get this error message on OBS, "WARNING: Taking too long to encode, skipping frames!"

I've spent 3 hours trying to fix it but can't seem to. Please help me!!

Your CPU is in no way powerful enough to stream at the settings you're trying to use. Set your base resolution to whatever the game is running at (1680x1050? 1600x900?), then downscale to something in the 480p or 360p range. If performance is still poor, change your preset to superfast, and if that doesn't work try ultrafast. While it won't affect performance, you'll also need to increase your bitrate to something in the 600-800 Kbps range. At 100 Kbps it would be incredibly poor quality.

I'm running my game in windowed mode at 1440x900. How do I downscale to 480p or 360p?

nvm i figured it out. it seemed to help a little! but i can still notice a tiny delay and choppiness. my champion in game stutters a little bit when i command him/her to move different directions.

Settings > Video

Set your base resolution to 1440x900 and set the Resolution Downscale box to 2.25 or 2.50.

My stream quality is pretty bad now.

Is my desktop just not able to stream on??

It couldn't be any worse than your stream quality before when you were using 100 Kbps. You're using a CPU that isn't very well suited to streaming and have very limited upstream bandwidth, so your quality is never going to be that great. If you think something may be wrong you can post a new log and maybe a link to a recording/VOD done with the new settings.

What computer components could I possibly upgrade to make my streaming and simultaneous gaming quality better?

Your CPU. You will need a new motherboard, too. A modern i5 or i7 should work great.

how do i go about choosing a motherboard with fitment in my case and other things? I'm sorry I am not tech savvy at all

pcpartpicker.com is helpful to me. The short of it is that you have to make sure the socket types match, and that the motherboard will fit in your case.
