Question / Help Game I want to record not appearing in window select

Trying to do a local recording of an old game ( Runaway: A Road Adventure, released in either 2001 or 2003, it's kinda fuzzy).

The game window doesn't appear in the Application dropdown box. I have tried both the Steam and GoG version and neither one shows up. I tried doing a monitor capture and it just squashed the footage into a tiny square.

It seemed to detect it once, saying I needed to run it as an admin in the message window, but when I did that it just disappeared from being mentioned at all. I also tried ticking the anti-cheat hooking box, didn't help.

Any advice would be appreciated as I am new to this. Thanks for your time.

Is it a Windowed mode game, or fullscreen?

Fullscreen games need to be at least DX9-compliant to be captured, though I believe there's a DX8 plugin available. If possible, there may be a launcher or workaround to make it windowed mode (like Chaoslaucher, for Starcraft 1/Brood War).

If it's a windowed mode game, that's odder; may need to run it as a Monitor Capture (or Game Capture of the DWM process if you're running on Win7; this will not work if it's a fullscreen game).
