Question / Help game does not run as smooth while streaming

Hey guys,

so whenever I am streaming it feels kinda laggy in game. I am only playing and streaming Dota 2. There is no certain fps drops oder huge lags, it is just not as smooth and kinda annoying for me to handle, so it limits the time I am streaming :/

Here's some hardware information.
AMD FX(tm)-6100 Six-Core Processor ; CPU Speed: 3311MHz
GeForce GTX 550 ti :(
8192 MB RAM

If you need more information, let me know.

So, here's the things I've already tried, I'd say thats pretty much everything.
Since I don't care too much about video quality in game its all the lowest.

Encoder is: x264, CBR is enabled, as well as CBR padding.
Max Bitrate is 1600-2000, I've been changing it many times - no difference.

Resolution Downscale 2.00 (960x540) - which I think is already pretty low and besides having a low computer, it should be able to handle this and more?

Filter: Bilinear (fastest) ; FPS: 30

x264 CPU Preset: ultrafast; Encoding Profile main; and CFR used. I've changed the CPU Preset numerous times, but doesn't fix the problem.

I am only using 1 Scene in OBS and not too many window captures (maybe 3-4). There is no difference when I stream with webcam or without.

When I am playing and streaming, basically everything not needed is disabled. So, while playing and streaming there is Spotify, OBS, Firefox with 3-4 tabs opened or Google Chrome, I thought maybe it's the browsers fault, I dunno. But whatever I do, it still feels kind of laggy in game. Not sure if you need a log since there is no crash or something, but I'll send it anyway.

Thank you for your help :)

What kind of FPS are you seeing in the game while streaming? If you aren't using vsync, please try that first.

Thanks for your answers guys,

my cpu usage is about 20-40 % while playing & streaming if I remember correctly.

My FPS are around 100-120 in window mode without streaming. And 70-80 with stream on. I've tried fullscreen with vsync enabled a while ago - not sure if there was a noticable difference, I will try it in the next hours again, problem I remember was it feels different, kinda odd with vsync on. And since it has to be in fullscreen mode, it is harder for me to tab out/use the 2nd screen while streaming. And if i tab out too often, dota becomes laggy, too and I don't wanna restart it every 10 tabs or so. :/

Edit: Just played a few games with vsync on. It feels still the same :/
