Question / Help Game Capture/Windows Capture No Longer Working?

I have used OBS for a long while now and have not had many issues until now.

I went to capture a game recently (FNAF to be specific) using Window Capture. It worked just fine until recently where the game is not recognized by OBS in Window Capture OR Game Capture.

I have my log file attached (hopefully). I am using OBS Studio v. 16.2 on Windows 7 Pro.

Can you try OBS Studio 64bit.exe? If not working, try to revert OBS Studio renderer to Direct3D 11 (Settings> Advanced)

No results in 32bit or 64bit. The game still is not captured in Window Capture or Game Capture. Direct 3D 11 was already in place upon OBS startup.

Here is the latest log file. I switched to OBS 64bit and reverted back to Direct 3D 11 with no results.

I am able to capture other things, such as desktop applications (Firefox, Desktop Snippets, etc.) I believe it's just this one application that OBS doesn't recognize....

I too am having this problem - When I first downloaded OBS I was able to capture the in-game screen for League of Legends just fine, but when I went to actually stream it wouldn't show up on the Game Capture OR Window Capture, the only way I could get it to show up was through using the Display Capture.
I've tried switching Direct 3D and OpenGL, with no luck at all.
I am new to streaming, so I'm not sure if I'm just missing something entirely or if there is an actual problem.

Edit: The only way I've some how managed to moderately fix this problem is running both League and OBS64 both in admin mode.
LoL doesn't work well without Admin rights and whenever I ran OBS without Admin, it wouldn't show my game capture/window.
I took both programs out of Admin mode to do a little test and they both worked together - However if one had Admin and the other didn't, neither would work properly.

my point is its not just a 1 off problem. There are multiple threads posted with the same problem. Posting my log is pointless.
Multiple threads showing the same visible problem, but perhaps not the same actual cause of the issue. We ask for logs because they provide a better picture than "Game Capture isn't working".

Game Capture can fail to work for a number of reasons, such as:
Window Capture can fail to work for a couple different reasons as well:
  • Application is using hardware acceleration
  • Application is a Windows Store app (UWP)

A log can help show what OBS Studio settings you're using, what you're trying to capture, if the hook succeeded or failed, your system specs, and a number of other useful details when troubleshooting. Just because the end user sees that "Game Capture isn't working" that could mean many different things.

...forgot
  • insufficient rights (run as admin)
  • security software blocking (obs folder to trust list)
  • source placed out of the screen (CTRL + R)
  • updated from the earlier versions of the Studio (recreate game capture source)
  • forgot to add game capture source to the current scene (add source)
  • another source placed over game capture and covers it (shift layers, rearrange)
  • source disabled (make it visible, eye icon)
  • captured application not exist (use capture any fullscreen)
  • multiply game capture sources used (leave single source, use add existing option)
also, there is "errors" when preview is ok but recording is black...
