So about 2 weeks ago i was about to start my stream and noticed my mic wasnt picking me up, promptly after fixing the mic issue i noticed that my game capture wasnt picking up either my fortnite or my league in game no matter what we did the only way i was able to capture games was via screen capture. 2 weeks on i am able to capture games in window capture however this gives me extremely poor fps on every game and i get constant stuttering. when i try and make a new game capture widow and set it to my selected game all i get is a tiny red dot in the top left hand corner of the scene as if the window has been made as small as possible and if i try to move the dot or make it bigger it just disappears completely and i cant bring it back unless i delete and re make the capture . PLEASE HELP

Does that happen on any game? Do you run your games in fullscreen, fullscreen windowed or windowed? If it does happen on every game, and you run games in fullscreen, did you try reinstalling OBS / deleting your settings and see what happens with defaults? I had a similar issue and I solved it reinstalling (actually updating to a newer version, but I also deleted settings). Also check if you have the latest OBS Studio version.

yes it does this with every game, i have been running them in border-less since this has started but i am now running in windowed as this improves the fps but not by much. i have uninstalled and re installed a few times because I used to get a similar issue with my web cam but re installing seemed to have fixed it. OBS just had an update that it did today but that hasnt fixed anything

The latest OBS update is from August 11, you just might not have noticed until now, but that's besides the point (unless an update is rolling out OTA and is not on the site yet). Should be 20.0.1.
If you run games in windowed mode, give window capture a shot. Works well for some of my games that I do run as windowed. If they don't show that way either I'm a bit stumped. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable than me will give you a hand :)

The error is most likely happening because you have OBS running. Close it if that's the case. If you closed it, its process may be still open (check task manager). Otherwise I don't know.

You can reinstall a program without uninstalling it first... Anyways, since you did uninstall OBS, that shouldn't be running. Tried opening the setup as administrator? Sounds like you don't have permissions sufficient to install it there as a user. You could also try disabling UAC temporarily and see if that makes a difference in case you have it on.

so turns out there were some obs files that were corrupted thats why it wasnt re installing however even though i have fixed all that i still cant capture games through the game capture window its only picking them up if its with window capture and the game is windowed

Try disabling the "Capture third-party overlays (such as steam)" option in your game capture source. I had the same problem and doing so fixed it for me.

That makes sense; Negativeangel, do you have stuff like Overwolf, Steam, or anything else to overlay your games? Maybe RivaTuner... I don't know. I don't have any running, so that could indeed be an issue for you.

ive never had that enabled but i know that it does still capture my overlays. unfortunate league is down at this moment so i cant test it with that but ill try it anyway

so i manged to test it again with league and i just got the same result, turning overlays off changes nothing.
I checked your log, you seem to be on a laptop, right? If so, follow this: click

edit: elaborating on that; your OBS is running on the internal gpu, while League is running on your actual nvidia gpu. That causes a black screen, at least to my knowledge.
