Question / Help Game Capture picking up Steam overlay

If you were able to determine what it was that changed on your system between when it wasn't showing the overlay and when it started showing the overlay, that would probably be useful information for the devs to have.

I've provided that information a long time ago and unfortunately no word or progress.

I'm just going to put it out there, please tell me if it's the same for everyone - I have noticed this happening, and other annoying issues that didn't happen before, since I installed Razer Synapse. Anyone else using RS? More importantly, is anyone *not* using it, but experiencing the overlay issue?

Arma 3 for me too.

EDIT: can confirm for me that it's Razer Synapse that's the issue. It was causing my Windows key to open start menu when in-game as well, but when I disabled synapse, it worked as intended and showed no overlay.

I do not use any Razer products, rather I use Logitech. However, I can reproduce this on a machine that is bare bones.

I am using OBS 18.0.1 and when i try to stream/record Counter Strike Global Offensive on game capture it is capturing my steam overlay. Even when i have this setting turned off. Any help would be great.

I managed to fix my problem with the overlay always appearing,
1. I had to close my "Razer Synapse" Program (this can be prevent from starting through task manager startup options) i think it may effect the way steam overlay hooks in due to its statistic logging on mouse clicks/movement.
2. I was required to run OBS as administrator. (this option can be enabled on startup by right clicking obs> select properties> select shortcut tab> select advanced> check run as administrator and close/apply.

With razer synapse closed and OBS run as administrator, my issue of always capturing the steam overlay was resolved.

I can confirm that the problem for me too was caused by Razer Synapse. More specifically, the file RazerIngameEngine.exe. Killing that in task manager instantly fixes the issue and steam overlay is no longer being captured by OBS.

I am still using Razer Synapse normally, but I just renamed the RazerIngameEngine.exe to something different to prevent it from launching. So far everything seems to be still working fine in Razer Synapse.
