I recently tried screen recording with OBS for the first time. I can set it up to record in Display Capture, but when using Game Capture I get a black screen. Display Capture does record my game, but the frame rate of the video is not good. Not sure why Game Capture doesn't work, but I tried looking into it and now I'm more confused. I've already read through the sticky post Laptop Black Screen When Capturing?
I have my obs-64.exe set to run as admin and in compatibility mode for win7 (I'm running win10) I also have the latest version (i think) of obs 18.0.1 which I read somewhere that older versions or classic are better?? I also tried going into my Nvidia Control Panel and adding obs-64, which gave me the option of using integrated graphics or nvidia. I've tried both. Nothing helps get "Game Capture" mode to work though.
I've been digging through the OBS settings and testing things based on opinions I get from youtube videos, some people say turning on the Anticheat can help. The choices I have for output are quicksync h.264 or x264. the default is h.264 and seems to run decent. Iv tried other tweaks, higher bit rate lower bit rate etc, just wondering what the best setup would be for for a low end computer.
I'm not trying to record in 1080, I'm also not streaming. I'm just trying to make a basic (720p) video of a game I play and I don't even care if the frame rate is that high, I just wish it was a little bit better
Thanks for any help
