I used to be able to record X-Com with the Game Capture mode but it seems like something has changed recently. Now I can record it using Window or Screen capture but my previous settings, which I'd recorded 50+ hrs using, simply stopped capturing the screen though they still captured sound.

I have had a similar problem with planetside 2. The name of or the location of the executable game file may have changed, so it will be trying to record something that isn't there. The fix is to start x-com, in obs go to sources, your x-com source, right click on it and then click properties, and at the top where it says application change it to x-com. Note: this may not work.

If you are able to record using window capture, I don't really see why it matters that you use game capture.

phwop runs Windows 7. By using Game Capture there's no need to disable Aero for better capture performance.

@Topic: I second the opinion to refresh the game capture settings for your game. Check for any hints OBS is showing like "Administrator rights required".

I mostly figured that this change might be unintentional since it's the exact use-case for the Game Capture option and nothing else seems to have changed.

I tried creating a new Game Capture 'Source' and fiddling with aero, updating my nvidia drivers, and in general permissioning things but it didn't seem to change anything. Perhaps steam did something in the background.
