Question / Help Game Capture no longer capturing games

Howdy!

The past week or so I've been having issues with both OBS and XSplit with the game capture features. I have not changed anything on my PC (that I'm aware of) but the game captures all of a sudden stopped actually capturing the games. I have no issues finding the game / widow to capture, but once added it just shows black. I'm using Windows 8 at the moment but it has worked for a long time without issue until last week.

I think update your OBS if possible?
Or play the games in windowed mode.

Already updated it to the latest version and also tried uninstalling. Also tried older versions but it made no difference.
And I'm also playing the games in windowed mode or windowed fullscreen if the option is there.

I just checked, all of the files seem to be present. I honestly have no clue what's up with it. I don't think there was a OBS update before it randomly broke.

I tested XSplit and that seems to work fine for now.

A fix that I found for my game capture was to use the hotkey-game capture instead of the application based on with one extra thing to do before streaming. Create a scene with anything but a game capture source and start your stream focused on that scene. Then, bring up the game, switch to your game capture scene, and press your game capture hotkey (make sure the game is in focus).

I have tried that too hoping it would work, but nope :( I've also tried updating DirectX and such because I thought it was an issue with that, but nothing changed.

Could you post %appdata%\obs\pluginData\captureHookLog.txt if possible? Also if you have any sort of apps that add overlays, graphical mods (like sweetfx), or anything like that at all on your system, it's highly recommended to disable them before using game capture.
