I've googled this several times and I keep finding topics asking the complete opposite. I've been streaming first play throughs of a few games and OBS is not capturing the steam overlay for the purpose of showing the achievement unlocks.
In the Game Capture settings, I do have the checkbox selected to Capture Third-Party Overlays. For the game capture Mode, I've been using "Capture foreground window with hotkey" so that I don't have to go into the game capture settings to pick the specific window every single time I start up a broadcast.
