Question / Help Game capture delay option

I play music games (stepmania, osu, taiko) where you tap keys to the screen as the gameplay

My webcam has about a 0.6 second delay compared to the game capture, which creates a desync between what is shown and what happens in the game.

Is there an option to delay the game capture minimally to get them in sync? I can do it already with the microphone but I don't see an option for 'game capture' or 'window capture'. (in obs studio)

If it does not exist, I think it's an essential feature! Otherwise, is there any alternative measure I can do to do the same effect? I think I could record with a capture card and sync it that way, as it creates a 3 second delay to the gameplay. Problem with that is it is taxing on CPU and causes in game lag.

No, this has been a requested feature for a while now.
There is no way to delay video from window/game/monitor captures.
Last I'd heard it was not going to be added due to the amount of VRAM it would require, and/or would swamp the PCIe bus to the GPU if trying to swap it out into system memory, since OBS runs game/window/monitor caps by copying the video frames from one spot in VRAM to another without touching system RAM or the bus. Stuff like webcams go through the directshow layer, and already end up in system RAM before OBS can grab them, so it's easy to just run a longer buffer on them to 'delay' it.

Capture card would work, but yes, increases overhead significantly, and you'll have to delay your webcam/mic further to match up with the capture card A/V, and the Scene Buffering Time in advanced to allow for the extra buffer (if you try to delay a source past the SBT it will just ignore the delay; make sure you have an extra 500-700ms of buffer time on the SBT if you go this route).

Good luck. This is one reason livestreamers have to force themselves NOT to sing along with in-game music. And yes, it's annoying.

I'm going to attempt a setup using my elgato capture card, and if I get good results I'll do a little write up for people in the future.
