Question / Help Game Capture Black Screen

The system is not a case.
The OBS Studio not a case.
Third party software not a case too.
Then only the Game is left. Either you enable graphic setting that is not compatible with the OBS Studio or there was a game update that made it incompatible with the game capture of the OBS Studio.

I did a clean installation of Windows 7 again and it STILL is not working. So I can only conclude that it is the game. Although before I did the whole clean installation, it worked like a charm, even when there was a recent patch installed. (2.1.0)

It has completely baffled me why this isn't working at all, I hope to god someone who's had the problem before knows how to fix it.

You may try to walk through the in-game settings and lower all to the minimum, then try the capture again.

You may want to share the experience with the @Jim but I don't think that he will be lucky to test each new build of the each new game (sometimes game developers mixes rendering techniques, this may cause capture failures).

At least, you followed general recommendations and Display Capture works for you.

If you make unchecked the Use anti-cheat compatibility hook of the 'Game Capture' source, the application should be hooked faster (Ideally in single hook not loaded yet, retrying.. log message). I tested this behavior during fr-043 startup (loading) hooking, while Capture any fullscreen application setting is in use.

Well, seems like @CydoniaTV doesn't solve the problem, he didn't sayd anything about solving it here.

and I try all the solution you guys put in here, nothing worked to me.

In resume:

I'm using windows 7 (just format it), ALL windows update installed, all drivers up to date, tryed format again, tryed run as adm, tryed to check and uncheck the anti-cheat compatibility hook... nothing on that solved my problem.

If I try to game capture, it doesn't capture anything (blackscreen)
If I try to window capture, it freeze on the first frame,
If I use display capture, I can capture the game but with dropped frames

Actually, I want something like game capture or window capture, coz I dont want it capturing anithing else.

So, I`ve got some that partially solved my problem. If I disable aero, window capture works, but it`s like display capture. It capture the entire window EXACTLY as a display capture.

this is pretty shit, coz this effect runs in every game that I put on window capture (as fortnite for example), but fortnite works fine with aero enabled. then, If I want to change game, I have uncheck the "disable aero" and restart obs to work.

and It happens that dead by daylight is my main game, so all this its being pretty anoying...

OBS: It was working fine before I format my computer, and I was using windows 7 too... I really have NO CLUE what is different.

sorry the long text and my poor english.

Ok guys, I got the solution here;
It's nothing about anything. It's because probably your system is on saving mode or saving CPU/GPU processing on the game, that when the game is fullscreen and you tab it, it's disabled. If you then switch screens the gamecapture becomes black until it getsa new screen update, which it then will freeze on until you tab back in the game.

TL;DR
Don't tab out and it should just work.
