Question / Help game capture black screen

assuming you are asking a quest as to the line of code but nto sure what the line of code is meaning other then i know whay rgb stands for not sure about the a on the end

easy answer when i first got obs i watched a video and folled its suggestiosn for the most part on setttings

and in setting and then advanced it suggested for recording rather then streaming to choosed rgb

That is a terrible suggestion. Put it back on NV12, and in the future don't follow terrible youtube videos that tell you to touch advanced settings.

ok changed to nv12

and still have a black screen

have tried running obs from desktop as well as running both 32 and 64 as admin

still have black screen

Please create a new Scene Collection for testing purposes. Use the Scene Collection menu at the top of OBS, select New, and call it "Testing". Then, add your sources that are suspected to have issues.

ok created testing and then killed it and created testing 1 or 2 doesnt really matter

i can see the game screen as i am loging in and if i go anywhere other then where i land then i loose it

with game capture which will be best to use

match the title , otherwise find window of same executable

match title, otherwise find window of same type

window title must match

and also

capture specific window

capture foreground window with hotkey

capture any fullscreen aplication

my best guess is it has something to do with a combination of 2 things

game capture mode

game capture window match priorty

and they must have tried to improve those from version 17 and 18 and have more choices and that i think is what is causing me to loose and go back to black screen when i leave a region and go somewhere else

yes on version 17.0 it has a choice of executabe name

which is what i think i used to use

But then shortly after:

This usually means that you alt+tabbed from a fullscreen game, which stops it rendering and you won't see it in OBS. Are you playing your game fullscreen?

well it is maxamized but still have the windows bar showing

and the only 2 things i would do would be to click onto the game or obs when i am recording

with my game i have to open obs first

and it used to work just fine , open game and get to a place i wanted to record and then obs would show even when i change regions

now it shows one of 2 ways either when it is first loading the game and then nothing from there

or after i get to where i want to be and then change one setting and i can see it fine till i either change a setting or go to a differentregion

it looks to me even thought the log doesnt say or show it ... like it is losing the hook into my game

ok keep trying different stuff

and yes the windows is maximized but not full screen because i have the windows bar visible

and at least now it attemtps to work briefly but then losses itself

and no i didnt do an alt tab but i think obs thinks i did because obs was minamized so i could open and loginto the game, then click on obs icon to see if it was working and if it was would start recording when was at right spot

then it stuck with my login screen kinda like the black screen only it doesnt matter what i do i cant get it to re see my game

Since you didn't show the whole log there, are you running OBS as admin every time?

If it just breaks the hook, it's possible the game is using some form of anti-cheat that needs to be updated to allow OBS to work with it. You might want to contact the developers.

yes running admin all the time

and that will work just swimmingly since they always blame everyone else for there issues

and then why does it even get hooked the first time if there end isnt right

and why if i choose something different for a choice does it hook and hold it like game capture used to with rgb and nv

your program came out with an update and my game hasnt

to me that seems simple that something is wrong on your side end

because i used game capture for the game and others choices for other things so i kinda need game capture to work

oh yes that was not running with admin and also had set ro rgb

Nothing really changed that would break capture like this. OBS updated, and the anti-cheat for your game has not. There is nothing we can do about this on our end. If it was working on a previous version, you're free to roll back and wait for the game to update. The fact that capture does succeed for a short time means that OBS is working fine, and the game is doing something to reject the hook.

Well if it doesn't work on an older version, how could it possible be the OBS update that broke it?

I am truly sorry that you are having issues, but I don't see anything that is something we can control.

ok here is what it is has been .....

i started with version17.0 , then 17.02, then 18.0.1 and all worked fine with rgb non admin and admin and then along came 19.0.3

and pretty sure i have tried almost every option choice and no joy

so you told me to rollback

so i went to control panel and uninstalled obs and then rebooted

then i searched for any stray obs stuff and deleted it

then installed cc cleaner and rebooted

then used cc cleaner and fixed the obs registry stuff and rebooted

then uninstalled cc cleaner and rebooted

then installed obs 17.0 and rebooted

then set obs to run as admin

then set settings and yes with rgb because that is how it was set and worked then closed obs and rebooted

then opened obs and then minamized

then opened game and loged in

and gets it at first and losses it

waiting for a mircale from one side or the other

most of the time i dont get them

so i will uninstall obs and wait and see what happens maybe it will run perfect without the program installed who knows havent tried that one yet
