hello all ok I'm in need of some help, i currently run dual pcs , one for streaming and one for gaming , I have the gaming sound coming out of the pc going through a hum eliminater and then going into a behringer mixer which then goes to the streaming pc. I also have a mic in each of the pc's in the 3.5mm spots. The issue I'm having is that the game audio sounds like junk and its underwater while the voice from the Mic sounds perfect. Anyone have any in site or have experienced such a symptom
And if so anyone have a fix, thanks !!

Good morning , funny you should say that, I stream iracing and under sound theres a spot to turn iracing surround off and on, I turned it off but I tried so many things including swapping mixers I don't know if that would of done it the swapping of the mixer, or turning off the surround, if you are saying you ran across that with the surround perhaps that was the issue. I can test it again by turning it on and seeing if that caused it.

That'd be helpful, yes.

Ideally, though this might be a lot of trouble (your setup sounds reasonably complicated), it'd be best if we could try the other mixer, but disabling that surround feature (which my quick Googling suggests is an in-game feature, right?).

the surround sound is pretty simple its turned off and on with one click in the game settings correct, ill try that tonight run a test stream and see if it comes back, if not then ill try swapping mixers, would the settings turned up on obs but low on the mixer cause the same issue?? I noticed too once I turned up everything on the mixer it worked better.

Under your mixer settings click on the gear icon and reset it to default speakers. Then go into settings and Audio and find the channels field and change it to mono. See if that helps.

I am using a Behringer mixer that is usb, so there are not any real settings I just select the mixer under setting on obs, ill look to see if there is something there but I don't believe so.

I think he's asking you to configure OBS from stereo to mono to see if it helps.

I take it the streaming PC has the mixer on USB? Can you check what channel configuration it has on that PC by right-clicking the speaker in the system tray > Playback Devices > Select the mixer > Hit Configure?

I was having this same underwater sound when sending a stereo signal from a computer to my Behringer Q1202USB mixer. Some frequencies such as tones of some vocals were completely muted like when trying to play a song I noticed. Was also getting digital signal noise when nothing was playing. I think this is caused by the left and right channel audio being fed into a single channel input, both signals trying to exist on the same channel makes it cancel out part of the frequency and turn some of it into digital noise.

Here is my physical setup:
3.5mm Jack over standard stereo cord > 1/4" Stereo Adapter > 1/4" Line In under XLR input on mixer
I'll be upgrading my cables to proper gauge 3.5mm Male to XLR Male, this may reduce some line noise too.

Solution: On PC Follow These Steps
> Right Click Audio Icon in Windows System Tray (bottom right)
> Select Playback Devices
> Select Speakers (or whatever your output is)
> Click Properties Box
> Select Levels Tab
> Next to Speaker Level Slider Select "Balance" button
> Move Right Channel Slider to the Left to mute this channel (forcing mono signal)
> You should no longer hear the garbled underwater noises from this source

3.5mm stereo have 3 connections. Left, Right, and ground. Missing ground will result in hearing only the differences of left or right. This has happened to my headphones when the plug wasn't in all the way. Other 3.5mm like powered speakers without ground connection can cause buzzing or noise. This can happen to bad cables.
