See screenshot below.
I have FullHD screen and set 1920x1080 in OBS settings.
If I change Windows resolution for 1280x720 (and set the same in OBS) it works without capping.
Maybe it is 125% dpi scaling in windows cause the problem?

I use i5-3317U (integrated videocard) and Windows 10 x64.
I was able to record FullHD video on this laptop with other software, so CPU should be enough for the task.

OBS version: 0.656b

Moved your thread, it was in the OBS Multiplatform area which isn't want you're using.

...with other software...

What other software? software like FRAPS dont encode, they only capture, at extremely high bitrates (filesize) where OBS does software and hardware encoding to make it smaller at the same or similar quality with tweaking.

post your logfile of your last recording. there should be no reason to change your screensize with OBS. it will do the rescaling for you in the GPU.

Readding "desktop" and setting "use as base resolution" (I use localized version, so not sure about spelling) helps even with dpi scaling on. Thanks!
