Question / Help From black magic to obs to mp4

Hi, sorry for the newbie thread, I am in confusion, as I have just started using obs and I need to input a realtime video from a black magic via USB and through OBS convert it, always realtime, into an mp4. The problem is that OBS, although it detects the black magic device, continues to give me a black screen in the preview. I searched among the many solutions but nothing seems to work. Do any of you have any idea what it might be, or am I completely off the track?

which BlackMagic?
Signal setting, black screen - signal out off range, e.g. BlackMagic Shuttle USB to 1080i only, if your camera send 1080p you got black screen.

Is a BlackMagic Design Intensity Shuttle. Input is by hdmi and now i'm testing it with a pc with a video player playing a video, so probably i need to change my pc output to get the correct input, or am i wrong? What if i can't change the output from the pc, because i'm only testing it but isn't what i need.

Set 1080i or les e.g. 720p

Intensity Shuttle max input resolution is 1080p30. It doesn't autodetect the signal so your video source HDMI output must match with the Balckmagic HDMI Input settings.

Thank you for your quick answers. Now I don't have the other PC to test but I will be able to do it in the afternoon hoping to solve. In the end I just have to set the input received from the bm to a value of ex: 720 and adjust the other pc with the video in play in the same way.
