freezing "Not Responding" app when I take most actions

Problem: OBS28.0.1 and OBS20.0.0 is freezing and showing as "not responding" for 5-8min when I do any of the following:
-Launch app or close app
-Switch scene collections
-Press start recording/stop recording button
-Returning to the base/default screen of OBS
-Add or make changes to sources
and sometimes app won't start at all.
This was not a problem yesterday, it's a new problem. Tried rebooting already. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling, as well as switching versions.
Of note: Switching scenes does not freeze.

This exact same thing just started happening to me yesterday also. I have no idea what has changed for OBS to run like this, but it has pretty much shut my streaming down until I can figure it out.

Are you using all the plugins you have installed? Try removing the ones you don't use or haven't updated yet.
Yesterday I got a windows update. Did you got it too?

You got one that recently? Very different from me.
Last Windows update: 2022-04-15. No updates currently available. I'm running Windows 10, version 21H2.

I haven't changed any plugin stuff between now and when the problem started, so I doubt that's the problem. But I'll try.

Due to me uninstalling OBS28.0.1 and installing OBS20.0.0 to test if that was the problem, I don't have any plugins working in OBS app right now... As in, I can't find them in the OBS UI. Buuuuut I'm pretty sure they're still in my hard drive.
What's the best way to check for a list of all the ones I have? And what's the best way to uninstall them? For now I'll uninstall the ones I know about via add/remove programs, but I would like a way to find a list in case I miss some. I can always re-install later after I get OBS functional again.

Your report contains errors related to Browser Source Try to create a portable version of OBS (clean install) and use it for a while to diagnose the problem.

OK, I used Add/remove programs to uninstall all my plugins. Except Scale to Sound, which I swear I had, but I can't find anywhere to uninstall it. Weird.

Even wit plugins gone, OBS is still going into Not Responding whenever I try to load... basically anything except switching scenes. I can't work like this :S

I'm not getting any errors whatsoever. No pop-ups are happening.

I can try to do this portable version of OBS like you asked... how exactly do I do a "clean install" compared to the normal way I'd do it?

I'm willing to try this, but keep in mind that the app goes Not Responding even in scene collections that are the most barebones of barebones. One source, one scene, no browser sources.

Ok, did that. It's installed as portable. screenshot https://i.imgur.com/myt8iJW.png
The only problem I don't have the foggiest how to open it. There's no working .exe in here. When I try to launch obs64.exe, I get error screens:
Failed to create directory../../config/obs-studio/basic
Failed to create required user directories
Same thing if I type OBS in my start bar and launch OBS Studio 64 bit.

Update: I tried installing OBS portable to Users/downloads instead of Program files and now I can launch the exe.
Unfortunately, it has exactly the same problem. Launching it takes a long time and trying to do almost anything in the app puts it into Not Responding.
What's more, even though it's the portable version and in a very different folder and a clean install, it has many of my settings intact from my previous OBS work. All my scene collections are here, and most of my settings. Not my hotkeys, though.

So Sandrix, I'm not sure how to diagnose the problem with portable OBS under these circumstances. Please advise

The portable version works regardless of the installed one. We exclude all additional factors that affect the operation of OBS. You may have already done some of this.
1. Try reverting to OBS 27.2.4
1. Perform a clean install of your video card drivers
2. Update Visual C++
3. Set High Performance Mode for OBS64.exe on Windows and Nvidia Control Panel
4. Disable HAGS
5. Try disabling all unnecessary programs, overlays. Anything that can interact with OBS

Please share a crash report on OBS. Perhaps he will say something.

Ok here's what I found out so far.
Uninstalling 28 and installing 27 didn't help.
Uninstalling 27, ticking the "remove all my settings, scene collections, profiles, app data, etc." checkbox, then re-installing 27, cleared up the problem.
(Uninstalling 27 after that and installing 28.0.1 also seems to function fine)

So, something in my settings, scene collections, etc. was the culprit. Which is weird cuz I didn't change anything new right before the problem reared its head.
I will now have to either build my scenes back up from scratch, or import scene collections. It's possible that one or both of these might lead to the exact same problem. Any advice?

P.S. I was unable to share crash reports because, as frustrating at it was that the app was going into Not Responding mode every time I did almost anything, it never did crash.

Therefore, I recommended creating a portable version in order to find the culprit of the problem). The problem was probably in one of the sources, as evidenced by the log file you provided. You have no choice but to add everything again.

To try to determine the problem, I started importing scene collections one by one into a clean-slate OBS. Most of them cause no adverse effects.

But. With my scene collection with split audio (using Source properties>Control Audio via OBS and Application Audio Capture beta), even just trying to add that one into the list in the Scene Collection Importer pop-up window caused a rather long bout of unresponsiveness in the app. So I bet it's something having to do with those split audio bits. Because... other than that, this scene collection is identical to another scene collection I imported with no problem.

Something about Control Audio via OBS and/or Application Audio Capture beta is something that the app can't handle. This is a bit strange since the app didn't put up any fuss when I first put those into my scenes. It was only days afterward that it went Not Responding on me. AND even WEIRDER, it went Not Responding even in scene collections where those aren't present. Incredibly bizarre.
