Question / Help Freezing as soon as i hit preview/record/stream

I've used OBS for months to stream/record all my games but recently whenever I hit preview/record/stream it instantly freezes up my entire computer and i have to force shut down the program. I haven't changed any of my settings, I don't get why it's doing this. I have a gtx 980ti and i7 6700k both running at very stable temperatures, so hardware isn't an issue. Can anyone shed some light on this issue for me

you forgot your logfile for 5 minutes or in-game and streaming

Ah my mistake. I can't even get a log file of the problem though. I can use game capture and window capture completely fine but the problem only happens when i use monitor capture. Like it literally freezes as soon as i hit record so it wont record a log file. I never had a problem with monitor capture before and I don't have any of my old logs because I uninstalled and reinstalled the program a few times trying to fix the issue

Upon further investigation i can use any source with no problems except monitor capture. Even previewing the stream while monitor capture is enabled causes it to freeze up completely

we do not recommend monitor capture but as a final alternative. please upload last log file and paste that link here. you can remove the monitor capture and use something else then hit preview then stop the post the log.

what exactly are you needing to capture? what software(s)/game(s)?
