Frames dropped due to render lag - 12-14% dropped on OBS launch (No Game Running)

Hi All,

I've been noticing that my stream/recordings have been dropping frames and I'm getting my toes wet on the process of troubleshooting.

I can reproduce the frame dropping by setting a scene and waving my hand at the camera(s). Status shows a steady-state 12-14% rate of frames dropped due to rendering. GPU with no game running averages <10% utilization from Task manager/nvidia-smi

Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

  • I've gone in and deleted any unused/stale sources.
  • I've removed extraneous filters from my input devices (cameras).
  • Run OBS as Admin
  • Disabled HAGS
  • Enabled Game mode

Disk? As in i/o starvation? Was this in logs, if so, what part of the logs shows the is? I'm curious on whether it is read (resources failing to load from disk in a timely manner) or write operations (but I'm not recording local when this happens?).

Is it possible objects are slow to load because they are web elements (Stream Elements overlays)?

FWIW, here's the benchmark of the SSD where OBS is installed and running from.

(Correction this is a SATA SSD not 2nd NVME drive as stated in the original post)

Here's an interesting twist.

No hardware changes; I loaded a config from 2 months ago and I drop <1% frames in the same scenario.

Old Config with no dropped frames: https://obsproject.com/logs/Gk8NJKD5inWIjLUy

Apart from going line by line in the new vs old config, can anyone discern from the log what I added in the new config (log posted in Original Post) that drove my Frames missed due to rendering lag through the roof?

Got some help from the Discord. Turns out it was the SE.live plugin. I uninstalled SE.Live, uninstalled OBS, reinstalled OBS and the frames missed due to rendering lag disappeared.

Thanks Penwywern and Pengwen!
