Reduce your output and recording resolution to 1920*1080, next thing change to a Nvidia Encoder, maybe your CPU is a bottleneck on this resolutions.

Okay, at that point I can just help with options to try, that you might not have done. Have you tried to change the capture method?

There are three possibilities on PC:

  1. Windows Capture
  2. Game Capture
  3. Display Capture
Questions:
  1. Is this also a problem on 3D games?
  2. Was this always an issue or did you update OBS and suddenly it began?
  3. Driver were updated, not only graphic card, but also BIOS, Chipset etc.?
  4. Did you do a Windows repair over command line to make sure windows files are okay? (sfc /scannow) and (Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth)
  5. Is OBS using your NVIDIA Card? - In the NVIDIA Control program settings might be a iGPU set, well I don't see anything in the logs but just to make sure, better check

In another post such a problem was solved with the windows defenter integrity. There seemed to be a problem with the PC.

If I understand you right, this recording didn't have any stutters, at least I don't see any, but other records have? And just as an info, Lags are network related, stutters and freezes - hardware/software related.

I think it was always there, recently just noticed it, tomorrow I will update my BIOS and see if that will resolve the issue, have a friend that will help me to do that update. I have changed the OBS to run on NVIDIA card (high performance setting), that made it a lot less, but it is still not 100% resolved. Yes the problem is there also noticeable in the Kingdom Hearts 3, harder to see if you dont do a constant movement in a single direction while recording.

Really appreciate the help so far, will keep this post up to date as I try to resolve it

Ok I would just like to update this post, it seems that the problem is with AMD CPU's with Windows 11, so the solution is to either wait for a new update and update the windows, hopefully that is fixed then (windows themselves are aware of the issue with win11) or you can downgrade your windows to windows 10.

How do I know this? Well if all my recording software is giving roughly the same issue, including shadowplay, streamlabs obs, obs studio and Mirillis Action, then it has to be software/hardware related on my PC. I can OBS lagging even when im not recording, just having it open on my 2nd screen I can still see stuttering.

Hopefully someone will find this useful, I have tried everything in my power to fix this. I will not downgrade since it will clean wipe your PC and I really dont want to go through installing everything again, so I will just wait for windows to update this issue via firmware.

Thanks

Ok guys, I have managed to fix the random fps lag, even when not recording. Yes I was lagging while just in preview. I got this fixed now.

2 Things I have done to get this fixed:

1) I have refreshed / deleted everything on current OBS. You can easily reset everything by doing the following:
- Open OBS Studio
- File > Show Settings Folder > Control + A, Delete
This will act like you have installed OBS from scratch.

2) Delete all plugins you have installed over the years, you can easily see what plugins you have installed by following this 1min video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2xwpXbQc2zA
Now if you really want to install the plugins again, rather make sure it is updated, so rather delete the ones you know is 3rd party and then download it again. I am fairly certain that this was the cause of my lag
