After reading this thead and this thread I'm still a bit confused about whether 45 or 48 fps streaming is better for me. The thing is though, they're only talking about a 60 FPS source in those discussions.

The game I'm capturing is Battlefield 3 (shooter, fast motion) and I play the game at 144hz with >60 FPS.

Frame timing?

I would also recommend using 48fps instead of 45fps because of frame timing stuff.

So ya... basically what I'm asking is what is the best framerate (that's below 60 FPS) to stream at for high motion games if the source is >60 FPS?

Ehh more straight-forward question: why do some people say that streaming @ 48 FPS is better than 45 FPS?

The simple explanation as far as i know: It has to do with the render times/timings, where 48 fps wil make more effective use of the systems capabilities then 45.

But for a more indept explanation you will have to wait on the experts here.

That has nothing to do with 45 vs 48. By Muf's logic both 45 and 48 are equally inadvisable. He merely didn't mention 48 as being "bad" just as he didn't mention 20 as being "ok".

If you have a 144 Hz monitor, turn on VSync and stream at 48 Hz. No one will argue against that. Its exactly 1/3rd of 144, and its a good framerate for fast action games while being easier on the stream than 60Hz.
