Depends on which one is specifically causing the problem.
What antivirus do you have?

Have you tried previous video card driver versions?

I've been having this same issue as well. It only happens with certain games, and with some testing, it only happens when OBS is on another monitor? (might be because 1/4 the monitor was covered by OBS being Always on Top).

Games I've had this same issue with: Euro Truck Simulator 2, American Truck Simulator 2, Tomb Raider, Rise of the Tomb Raider (all I can think of atm).

The FPS counter on the bottom right corner will just drop down in the 50s and even 40s at times, while the game is still looking pretty decent w/ no major FPS drop (in game). I can visually see in the OBS preview that the frames look MUCH worse than what I'm seeing on my main monitor, and viewers will point out that they experience horrific frame drops when OBS' FPS is dropping.

I just want to know why this happens and help fix the issue, whether it's an issue on my end, or on OBS.

Seems like Harold helped me with the FPS problems atm.

I dealt with this problem for about a week, trying everything. Long story short, rolling back to OBS Studio 18.0.2 fixed everything.

@Harold I've got 3 monitors. 2 on my GPU and 1 on my mobo. The monitor plugged into my Mobo is where i put OBS. So if this is correct, then if I were to have OBS on any of the other monitors, then i shouldn't have this OBS fps dropping issue, or even if I were to get an adapter for this 3rd monitor and put it into the GPU? (I'll be testing it out shortly, just questioning the theory)

Exactly. By running OBS on the motherboard gpu, you have to take the MASSIVE performance hit to get the frames from your main video card.

I don't know what the problem was. But before I tried an earlier version of OBS, I messed with video drivers, game settings, OBS settings, and even resorted to a system restore/clean wipe, and the problem persisted. Rolling back was the only thing that worked, but I can't tell you why. Trial and error for me.
