Question / Help FPS drop when streaming Dota2.

Hey guys, I've recently started streaming Dota2 on my new rig, and unfortunately when streaming I've noticed huge fps drops and occasional stuttering in-game.

I have a GTX 780Ti, 16GB Ram, and an i7-4790k processor, and I'm streaming at 1920x1080 res with 30 fps and 1,000 kbps (hopefully I didn't leave anything out). I've tried both x264 and NVENC, both giving the same results.

I'd really appreciate any advice on this, thanks in advance.

  1. 00:56:22: Windows Version: 6.1 Build 7600
  2. 00:56:22: Aero is Enabled
  1. 00:56:22: Using Window Capture
  2. 00:56:22: Using Monitor Capture
monitor capture with aero enabled on win7 tends to perform really really bad

make sure to either disable aero and be able to use monitor capture but then theres no window capture anymore
or
leave aero enabled and use game capture only also wouldnt recommend using two different capture methods in the same scene anyway

also 1k bitrate with 1080p30 wont really work its going to look pixelated as hell as soon as you move the camera

depending on your connection either use a higher bitrate or downscale to 720p and maybe use a slower preset with 720p

Thanks for the advice, what bitrate would you recommend for 1080p? I've read that around 3,000 should be okay, hopefully my connection can handle it.

I'll try disabling aero and removing the window capture (which I'm only using for my now playing on spotify anyway).

Thanks!
