Hello all, Just so you know I am a noob with video on a PC so don't flame me if I ask a stupid question please :)
I know PC's well but this is new and fun I might add.
Of all the software I tried I found OBS software to be the easiest to use and works the best - good stuff. I was able to easily stream to Ustream and record to a file at the same time. thats exactly what I was looking for.
At any rate, I am setting up a test stream for my church so we are starting out simple and cheap to see if there is any actual usage.
I will explain my setup and issue as follows
I am using a New camcorder with an HDMI output to get 1080P video. I am then splitting that video in to a video transmitter to transmit the video around the church. And I am also splitting out to an HDMI to Svideo/Composite converter that is then connected in an ultra cheap EasyCap USB2 capture device. the easycap is jacked in to a USB2 port on a laptop running windows 8.1. All of this hardware is working very well.
The challenge is that the EasyCap captures at 480p 4:3 but the source for that is 1080p 16:9 so when the OBS software captures the video it looks ok but it's all squished because its in a 4:3 window rather than 16:9.
Is there any way to "stretch" that video in the 480p window so it looks like 16:9 with a black bar at the top and bottom?
I tried working with the video capture settings as well as output settings but was unable to make anything work.
Any thoughts are appreciated
Dan.
