Question / Help *FIXED* Mic muted in OBS, audio still picked up from audio device

Hello, I'm having an issue with my mic audio in OBS.

From what I can see on the GUI, there's 2 audio graphs, one on the left that displays mic volume in OBS, and the other on the right which is your computer audio.

My audio settings for the video capture device source is set to "output audio to stream only". I have my audio input device "Line In Scarlett 6i6" where my mic is plugged in. When I mute the mic from within OBS, audio input is muted, (the audio graph on the left stops moving), but audio input is still detected on the right audio graph and still picks up audio.

The reason this is a problem is because even though I mute my mic in OBS, audio input is still detected in the finished render, whether it be a recorded video or livestream.

Does anyone know how to fix this issue? Maybe mute my mic's audio input to the computer audio but still retain the audio from the mic in OBS?

If you are using a webcam, set its audio device to 'Disabled'. You're double-capturing the interface if so; once on the mic channel, and once through the webcam source.

If you are not using a webcam/other capture device, make sure you cannot hear audio from the interface coming out your speakers. (Monitor mode, listen to this device, etc)

Otherwise, please post a logfile from a recording/streaming session at least five minutes in length, from the Help menu. We really do need it to be able to help, why it asks for one whenever you open a thread in the Q&H forum.

As I already said in the post above, set your webcam's audio device to DISABLED in the webcam source properties.

Hello FerretBomb,

I thought that the audio device had to be set there as well, I apologize for the inconvenience. Disabling the audio device fixed the double-capture.

Thank you for your assistance,

- Joshua

Nope, that one is for things like capture cards, so you get the game audio with the captured video. Mic has its own dedicated channel.

No worries, common enough mistake that there's a reason I listed it first in the stuff just pulled out of left field. :) Cheers!
